Randwick house
- A home for Helen and Peter, a retired couple who spend much of their time touring Australia. When home they park the 4WD and camping equipment in the garage and enjoy hosting friends and grandchildren.
- The west-facing house fronts a busy road where traffic noise is significant. The design turns its back on the road and reorients to the north for light and to the rear for privacy and amenity.
- The ground floor main bedroom allows single-level living and enables the owners to age-in-place. The first floor bedrooms and secondary living space for visiting grandchildren are used when required and a lift provides access.
- There's also a pool, four bedrooms, a covered BBQ area, garden, high ceilings, privacy, lots of natural light and ventilation.
- “What Ben has been able to do with this space is really amazing. Each day I’m finding myself saying I’m really pleased we went ahead with this plan, I’m really pleased we’re here, I’m really pleased we did what we did. And I’m finding myself saying that every morning. People just walking their dog will stop or come back and say, ‘love your house’ or, ‘you’ve done a great job,’ and they haven’t even got inside the front door, and I think the real quality of this house is inside the front door.” Helen, owner.
